FARMERS MARKET CAME TO TATTENHOE
But failed to maintain support
After months of negotiation a farmers market finally arrived in the Parish on Sunday 30th September 2007. The idea was the brainchild of Parish Councillor Neil Warden, seen here on the right with one of the stall holders.
Tattenhoe Leisure Centre with a large open area and plenty of parking was the ideal venue and the event was blessed with glorious weather.
Trading started at 9:00am prompt by which time eager customers were champing at the bit.
Close on 20 stalls offering everything from fresh fruit and veg to English wines and cheeses, lamb burgers, goat sausages, spiced sauces and pickles, a mouthwatering array of home made pies, cheese cakes, honey, garden plants and much more besides.
By mid morning the site was heaving and a constant string of happy shoppers were returning to their cars laden with produce. One satisfied customer admitted to spending over £50!
The market closed at 1:30 pm and the stallholders seemed delighted with the day.
Unfortunately, the initial enthusiasm was not sustained and after the November market the event was cancelled.
