Thanks to David Edmonds, one of our Parish Councillors, it is now possible to check on the weather and related matters such as rainfall, barometric pressure, wind strength and direction and even wind chill factor, not only here in Milton Keynes but just about anywhere in the world! David has a state-of-the-art weather station on his roof which collects data electronically and downloads it onto an internet site which updates every minute 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The electronic 'WeatherStation' is a unit which is used professionally all over the world by airports, industry and governments as well as amateur enthusiasts such as David. The picture shows what the unit looks like but, as you might gather from the background, this one is not in There is a worldwide Click on the link below and you will be taken to the website where all the data is stored. The first screen you see should be the If you then click on 'Summary' you will actually get more detail - a bit strange but there you are. Next Click on 'Map'. This is where the fun starts! You can zoom in and out by using the bar on the left of the screen. Where there is a dot there is a 'WeatherStation' - the colour of the dot is an indication of the local temperatureĀ - red is hot blue is cool. If you hover over a dot you will get a summary of local conditions, click on it and you will get a bit more information. If you click on the name of the station (in blue and underlined) you will see the local conditions and again if you then click 'summary' at the top of the page you will get even more. If you type a place name in the box at the top and click 'go' it will take you to your destination. To return to the map click 'map' or to return to Have Fun! |
